The short version
PDFMagic processes your documents on your device. We do not collect, upload, sell, or share your files or personal data. There is no account, no analytics, and no tracking.
What we collect
Nothing. PDFMagic does not collect personal information. Specifically:
- Your documents and images stay on your device. Tools like merge, split, compress, sign, OCR, redaction, translation, and AI summaries run locally. Your files are never sent to us or to any third party.
- No account. The app works without signing in.
- No analytics or tracking. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across apps or websites.
- AI features (summarize, translate, the assistant) use Apple's on-device intelligence. Your document text is processed on your device and is not sent to us or to any external AI service.
Device permissions
- Camera — used only to scan documents, on your device. Images become a PDF saved locally. We never access the camera in the background.
- Photos — used only when you choose images to convert, or to save exported images you ask us to save. We access only what you select.
You can change these permissions anytime in iOS Settings.
Purchases
Premium subscriptions and purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your payment-card details. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We store a local, on-device flag indicating whether Premium is active.
Cloud conversion tools (future)
Some conversions that cannot run on-device (for example Office documents to PDF and PDF/A) are planned for a future update. When and if you use those specific tools, the file you choose will be sent over an encrypted connection to our conversion service solely to perform the conversion, and deleted immediately afterward. We will update this policy and clearly label those tools before they ship. No such upload happens for any tool available today.
Data retention & security
Because we don't collect your data, there is nothing for us to retain. Files you create stay in the app's storage on your device until you delete them (Settings → Delete all my files, or per-file).
Children
PDFMagic is rated 4+ and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Since we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, export, or delete on our side. You control all your data on your device.
Changes
We'll update this policy as the app evolves and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes affecting data handling will be highlighted in-app.
